Charles Barkley's Rockets-era home in Sugar Land: what the last listing showed
Quick answer. Charles Barkley bought a home in a gated Sugar Land neighborhood in 1996, while he played for the Houston Rockets, and sold it in 2002. The most recent public news about it is from December 2018, when the family who bought it from him listed it for $700,000.

Whose home was it?
Barkley bought the house in 1996, the year he joined the Rockets, and sold it in 2002 to a family who lived there for close to 17 years. It sits in a gated neighborhood in Sugar Land, in Fort Bend County southwest of Houston.
What did the 2018 listing include?
The home was listed at $700,000 in December 2018. It was reported as four bedrooms with three full baths and a half bath, an upstairs balcony, a garden, a pool, an office and a game room. The owners said Barkley had left some of his memorabilia behind in the game room.
Is there newer news about the house?
Not that I could find. As of October 2026, the 2018 listing is the most recent public report on this home. I found no reported sale price or later listing, so treat the 2018 figures as history, not as the home's value today.
Does a famous former owner raise a home's value?
It brings attention and showings. The price still has to be supported by recent sales of comparable homes nearby, because that is what an appraiser and a lender look at. A celebrity connection is a great marketing story, not a line on the appraisal.
