Redstone and the Houston Open
Redstone Golf Club opened on the site in 2002 1. It hosted the Houston Open from 2003 to 2019: the Member Course (Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy) from 2003 to 2005 and the Rees Jones and David Toms Tournament Course from 2006 to 2019 1. The club calls itself the longest-running home of the Houston Open 1. Winners in that stretch included Fred Couples (2003), Vijay Singh (2004 and 2005), Adam Scott (2007), Phil Mickelson (2011) and Ian Poulter (2018) 6.
New owner, new name
Escalante Golf took over Redstone in April 2013 and renamed it Golf Club of Houston that December; the Member Course stayed private and the Tournament Course public 23. In April 2018 Escalante told the Houston Golf Association it no longer wanted to host the Open, which moved to Memorial Park in 2020 4. LIV Golf Houston was played on the Tournament Course in June 2024 5. Golf Digest’s 2025-26 Texas list places the Tournament Course No. 38 7.
The neighborhood next door
