Community Impact (Feb 2021) says the neighborhood dates back to 1977 and has kept developing since, with varied single-family styles and 'larger-than-normal lot sizes.' Source

The Atascocita Community Improvement Association (ACIA) was incorporated Jan. 22, 1973. Its bylaws cover properties under the Declaration for 'Atascocita Shores and Pinehurst of Atascocita.' Source

Atascocita development began in the 1970s, and Atascocita Country Club is among the area's clubs (Wikipedia). Source

HAR 2025 Facts: 1,536 single-family properties, median year built 1982, median size 2,809 sq ft. Source

Amenities, parks and golf

Atascocita Golf Club (20114 Pinehurst Dr) has 27 holes plus the Little A par-3 course. It says it opened in 1957 as Atascocita Country Club. Source

Golf course status: open as of Oct. 12, 2026. The club site showed the day's rotation (Pinehurst to Point), with the range and Shores nine closed that day for new concrete cart paths. It says course improvement and range expansion projects will finish 'in the next few weeks.' Source

History: Golf Course Architecture (Aug. 19, 2013) reported the 27-hole course, built in 1956, closed in 2010. Kevin Kilgore and local residents bought it in 2012 and planned to reopen it in spring 2014 as Golf Preserve of Atascocita. The 1956 and 1957 dates differ between sources. Source

Some MapQuest listings still label Atascocita Golf Club 'CLOSED,' which conflicts with the club's live site. Source

HOA

Association: Atascocita Community Improvement Association (ACIA) for the older sections. Sec 8 lists 'Sterling ASI' in MLS, so different sections may have different associations.

Management: ACIA is governed by a five-trustee board (per its 2015 TDHCA registration). The current management company was not found. Source

Assessment: $654 annual. 2026 (MLS listings: ACIA $654 to $657 a year in Sec 1 and Sec 2; Sterling ASI $475 a year in Sec 8). Community Impact estimated $650 a year in Feb 2021. Source

Property taxes, MUD and other districts

Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 151 (serves Pinehurst of Atascocita Sections 5, 6, 8 and 12): 0.298 per $100 (maintenance and operations only; no debt service levy). Tax year: 2025 (same in 2023 and 2024) Source

Atascocita is unincorporated, so there is no city tax, but utility districts (MUDs) and an emergency services district add to the county and school rates. Rates are set each year; check the total for the address on the Harris County Tax Office or HCAD site. Texas law requires the seller to give you the MUD notice before you sign. Schools

Pinehurst of Atascocita is in Humble ISD. Attendance zones are set by address and can change, so I do not list zoned campuses here. Check the exact address with Humble ISD’s attendance zone tools or call the district at 281-641-1000.

• www.harriscountyfemt.org: Harris County Flood Education Mapping Tool, run by the Harris County Flood Control District. Interactive map of floodplains, watersheds, ponding and channels. Not the official FIRM.
• www.maapnext.org: MAAPnext draft flood maps for Harris County (HCFCD, with FEMA). The site says the maps are drafts, cannot be used for insurance or regulatory decisions, and FEMA will issue Preliminary FIRMs later. No date given.
• www.harriscountyfws.org: Harris County Flood Warning System (HCFCD): rainfall, water levels, channel status and flood inundation information.

Risk varies by property. FEMA reports that from 2014 to 2024, almost one-third (29%) of National Flood Insurance Program claims came from areas outside high-risk flood zones, so a home outside a mapped floodplain can still flood. Source

Many homes back onto the Atascocita Golf Club fairways. For example, a 2025-26 Sec 2 listing is marked 'On Golf Course.' Source
