Wikipedia describes Walden on Lake Houston as a master-planned community in Atascocita and home to Walden on Lake Houston Golf and Country Club. Lake Houston borders Atascocita's eastern shore. Source

A Houston brokerage guide says development began in 1984 on about 750 heavily wooded acres, with residents' access to Lake Houston for boating and fishing. This is a secondary source. Source

HAR 2025 Facts for 'Walden On Lake Houston (Olympic Village)': 2,206 single-family properties, median year built 2000, median size 2,820 sq ft. Source

A May 2026 MLS listing on Walden Forest Dr (Olympic Village, Walden on Lake Houston Ph 2) shows a 2003 home on a 7,560 sq ft golf-course lot. This is one example, not a typical lot. Source

Amenities, parks and golf

Walden on Lake Houston Golf & Country Club is a private 18-hole course designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge, built in 1985. It plays par 72 at 6,781 yards from the championship tees (slope 133, rating 73.0). Source

Golf course status: the club website shows it operating. Encore Leisure Group manages the club, which offers year-round golf, tennis, pickleball, a fitness center, dining and events, plus a seasonal pool. It displays a '2025 F-B Operation of the Year' badge. Source

Membership types are Full Privilege Golf, Racquet and Social (family memberships). The club calls itself a 'No Assessment' private club and says sponsorship is preferred but no longer required. 2026 pricing is shown only as an image. Source

Club facilities include a driving range, short-game area, lighted tennis and pickleball courts, a junior Olympic-size outdoor pool and a renovated fitness center. Source

Association: Walden on Lake Houston Community Services Association, Inc. (a TREC-registered property owners association)

Management: Spectrum (MLS lists the HOA as 'Walden CSA Spectrum'). Texas Ally does not name a manager. TREC has a 7th amended management certificate on file. Source

Assessment: $375 annual. 2026 (one MLS listing, May 2026). Not confirmed with the association. Sections may also have sub-association dues. Source

Property taxes, MUD and other districts

Atascocita is unincorporated, so there is no city tax, but utility districts (MUDs) and an emergency services district add to the county and school rates. Rates are set each year; check the total for the address on the Harris County Tax Office or HCAD site. Texas law requires the seller to give you the MUD notice before you sign. Schools

Walden on Lake Houston is in Humble ISD. Attendance zones are set by address and can change, so I do not list zoned campuses here. Check the exact address with Humble ISD’s attendance zone tools or call the district at 281-641-1000.

• www.harriscountyfemt.org: Harris County Flood Education Mapping Tool, run by the Harris County Flood Control District. Interactive map of floodplains, watersheds, ponding and channels. Not the official FIRM.
• www.maapnext.org: MAAPnext draft flood maps for Harris County (HCFCD, with FEMA). The site says the maps are drafts, cannot be used for insurance or regulatory decisions, and FEMA will issue Preliminary FIRMs later. No date given.

Risk varies by property. FEMA reports that from 2014 to 2024, almost one-third (29%) of National Flood Insurance Program claims came from areas outside high-risk flood zones, so a home outside a mapped floodplain can still flood. Source
